It depends on your CPU, some have better support for it, others don't.

Oh and no need to make 3 posts for 3 different questions, just ask them all in one topic.

On Intel CPUs, the memory controller is designed for 1.5V RAM only, +/- 5%.  1.65V can potentially damage the memory controller, although it is very rare.  Intel does not officially recommend 1.65V RAM.

^ This, Plus some motherboards also cope better than others...
My Asrock Z68 Pro3 will let me run my 2133mhz DDR3 @ 1.65, my MSI Z77 board wont do 1.65v at all, will not boot, 1.5v with 1866mhz and tightened the timings a lot to even things back up :)

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Just get 1.5v RAM, there's really not much reason to get 1.65v.

Although not officially recommended, it's been confirmed by Intel employees that 1.65v ram works just fine. The 1.5v is there so people don't apply too many volts to their ram when overclocking.

Just get whichever is cheaper. It doesn't make much of a difference.

People in other forums have been saying they have been running 1.65v ram and they have no problems with it. I asked Asus Technical Support before about Haswell motherboards and they say that it won't damage the cpu.

ive been running 1.65 and larger on sandy, ivy and haswell with no adverse effects.

just when giggin' more volts to the RAM adequate cooling may be necessary. for

the safe play use 1.50v RAM, for enthusiasts whatever is cheaper (1.65). air-cooling

works better with air-flow across RAM and VRM for cooling. water-cooling looses

that ambient air-flow and can get 30-40% warmer with little to no air-flow.

I have 16GB of Patriot Viper memory  running at 1600MHz and 1.65V. I have never experienced any kind of problems - no instability, no overheating etc. The short answer to your question is buy whatever you like and you can afford, forget about the voltages.

Thanks @Analog how do you know that it isn't bad?

Disk Defragment is totally harmless. It just rearranges the date which you already have in the hard drive.
