Sapphire 7950 = jet engine?

Go to solution Solved by BoomLiam,

How would I go about that? the only option I see in the Catalyst driver is to manually set the fans at a fixed percentage

Download MSI Afterburner, run a game, see what speeds your fans are running at (by turning on OSD (On screen display) and the temperature of the card. Adjust the fan speeds at each temperature as you see fit. This should fix your problem :)

I just assembled a system with a Sapphire HD7950 Dual-X

The card is freaking loud! Can anyone share any ideas to make it more quiet? Feeling pretty fucked right now...

More details: it is 'bearable' at idle, but once the fans ramp up past 40%, the system is just as loud as a hair blower. The problem is that it shoots over 40% almost instantly once you put any load on it...

Set your own fan curves. Either that or buy an aftermarket cooler.

Didn't know you could also set fan curves in afterburner. Will try now and report back

Sapphire has its own utility called Trixx but Afterburner is certainly more functional.

Case = Bitfenix Prodigy, Motherboard = P8Z77 - I Deluxe, CPU = 3570k @ 4.2GHz, RAM = 2x 8GB G-Skill Ripjaws, GPU = Sapphire 7950 Boost Edition, Storage = 256GB Samsung 840 Pro.

Thanks guys! card is whisper quiet now :)

what are the temps of you unit?

They were only about 65 degrees at gaming load. The problem was that the fans were running at nearly 50% at that point.

well, i suggest you make an fan profile, wich gets up to 85 degrees, wich is acceptable for a GPU, but will be much quieter

You can also get sound dampening, but that is not possible with every case, if not, you can set up fan curves, but that might hurt your tempatures a little. If it's too much, buy a silent case like Define R4 or CM Centurion Silencio.

A curve like this should help keep your card quiet:

Case is a Corsair 200R. Not really built for silence :P

Temps are not a big problem...
