[Question] Facebook Account Deactivation

I'm choosing to deactivate my Facebook Account because it has become a breeding ground for my friends to complain about how 'unpleasant' their lives are. I've cleaned out my Friends list and kept those I interact with on a regular basis.

 

My question is: If I deactivate my account, can I still use Facebook Messenger separately? Or does it have to be tied to my Facebook Account?

Nope ... you need a facebook account for messenger to work, from the top of hard.

No. If you deactivate your account, within 2 weeks, it'll get deleted.

From what I read you can sign up for it with your phone number only 

 

Either way doesn't really matter,you can just reactivate it and poke around  :P to see what happens

So if I deactivate my Facebook account today and leave it for 2 week, it'll be deleted but I can still use Messenger fine (with the contacts that I still have on Messenger)?

I stopped using FB but keep it active to message friends.

 

The stand-alone Messenger app works without having to have FB installed, just needs your login info. So you can still talk to friends without having to swim through the dozens of Buzzfeed and Kardashin posts
