Does anyone know what this connector is?

It's coming from a 2x USB + Audio + SD Reader combo. I have no idea what this one does; it wasn't plugged on anything, and there doesn't seem to be a place to put it either!

 

The curiosity... it's killing me.............

I can't tell from the picture, but if it's like mine it might but a weird OEM only USB header layout.

I've spent a good 5 minutes on this: http://pinouts.ru/Motherboard/

Still stumped. Looks like a hacked down USB 2.0/1.1 connector.

 

Who is the manufacturer of whatever it is connected to? If you could find a model or SN may be easier to figure this one out.

Most likely a proprietary connector. Probably specific to that motherboard.

Proprietary connector, that's used for one of their other boards. Easiest way is to follow that cable and see where it leads too. Looking at the color of the headers on the board, I'm guessing you must have a hp/compaq server or workstation.

That's exactly what I did. It leads to the front USB + SD reader + Audio Jack. But they all work without the connector plugged, so I'm at a loss as to what this mysterious cable does....

That's exactly what I did. It leads to the front USB + SD reader + Audio Jack. But they all work without the connector plugged, so I'm at a loss as to what this mysterious cable does....

Probably one of their older type of connectors used for the optional (pocket) media drives and they never bother to remove it. Newer ones uses the standard usb header layout.
