Gta 5 lag

Ok so i have a 980 ti and i5 6600k. And theres some weird lag in Gta 5 that really annoys me. When i have vsync turned off and my fps goes up to like 70-150 fps the screen starts acting weird like freezing and frame drops in the menu and weird waves idk. Then i turn on vsync so it locks to 60 fps and its very smooth. My monitor is ASUS VN247H 1080p 60 hz. 

Will it solve my problem if i got a 144hz monitor? I really don't know much about monitors.

Main: Gigabyte G1 980Ti, i5 6600k, MSI Z170A M5, 16GB DDR4 2666, NZXT H440, NZXT x61, EVGA 750W G2, Windows 10 

 

Second PC: EVGA Reference GTX 680, i7 2700k, 16GB DDR3, Corsair 300R, Corsair CX500W, Windows 10

 

Laptop: Acer Aspire 5750G, GT540M, i7 2630QM, 6GB DDR3, Windows 7

then play with VSync on

GTA V tears like a bitch

GTA V runs like a bitch. That's the problem. I would if i were you. Crank up your settings so that you only get 60-70 fps.

Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it.

That happened to me too with AMD cards. Best option is to turn on v sync but even that didn't solve it for my system. "Amazing port" my a$$

Probably won't help changing the monitor, but what's the problem with playing with vsync on?

Should stress your gpu a lot less, thus reducing the power consumption and heat dissipation.

The difference in gpu stress when vsync is on in gta v is less than marginal. Also, my 770 has lags even with vsync on, so yeah...

Have you try playing in Borderless mode?

what? your 980ti can't handle a puny game like that on 1080p @ 60fps?

 

then increase advanced settings and downclock to stay @ 45~50 because the game actually handles very well at lower frame rate

The difference in gpu stress when vsync is on in gta v is less than marginal. Also, my 770 has lags even with vsync on, so yeah...

Actually he would be limiting the frame rate to 60 fps, thus reducing the load on the gou, as he would be only demanding the game to run at half the speed he would be without vsync.

No not all the time.... I already have advanced maxed

Do you know if that's the problem? When it goes higher than 60 fps it starts acting weird. Will it help with 144hz monitor?

Turn Vsync to adaptive in the Nvidia control panel in the profile for the game. Should help.

Ok so it was a little bit better than normal vsync i think. Still freezes a little bit when it drops a few frames.
