Which card is better ?

So my friend is pretty stuck on goig with the 970 over the 390 because he's going linux and says the amd linux drivers are trash.

So which of the two cards would be better all around, the zotac is more expensive by 30$.

the zotac the cooling on the turbo is not good at all

the nvidia drivers on linux are better but amds drivers are no were near as bad as they used to be. Card vs Card, the 390 has more raw power while 970 is more efficient

the guy will probably not game on linux so the cooling is irrelevant and for 30$ you can buy an 8GB RAM stick

I'd go with a turbo because it will exhaust air out the case, but it's also cheaper

yup, I keep telling him but he's wanting the 970 for drivers and he doesn't want to spend more on a psu

AMD cards support OpenGL better, which is what linux uses. Both OEM drives suck tbh, 3rd party ones are better.

explain to me why someone would buy a 970 then just let it sit there and not use it ?

For the drivers, a lot of people use un official drivers which perfectly on the 390

Personally, I've had way better experiences with AMD 3rd party drivers over Nvidia's 3rd party drivers. I had a ton of problems using a 960M

Well I hope he has fun with barely any games while he saves that $$$$.

 

You can buy Windows on G2A or Reddit for very cheap. You don't need to spend nearly $130, not even with the Canadian dollar.
