Hello everyone I am putting together my first build right now and am confused about the power supply ive chosen based off of advice and pcpartpicker versus what the graphics card box states.

I am going to be using the Sea Sonic S12II bronze 80+ power supply in my build which seems more than sufficient as the build comes out to be 418w according to pcpartpicker. The graphics card however states it requires a 750w power supply. The card is an XFX Radeon R9 280 Double D. Now I've seen multiple YouTube channels say 500w is fine in a single card build but wanted to be sure.

Thank you very much and sorry if this is a common sense thing. First time build and want to make sure I don't mess it up.

ignore power supply calculators and power "requirements" stated by the manufacturer

those are extreme overestimates

500W is more than enough if its a good quality PSU, which it is

GPU manufacturers don't want to confuse people, so instead of the box saying "calculate how much your system uses then add 200W for this card" it simply overestimates system usage and adds 200W plus headroom. It's not accurate and a 520W is fine, unless you're doing something ridiculous like running an FX-9590 with that.

Yeah, 500 watt is perfectly fine. Power Supply requirements tend to be on the cautious side.

as you can see for my 850w psu, I am cautious.
