390 is almost overkill aswell. 380/x will be more than enough

I wouldn't recommend it. The range is so narrow.

 

Anyhow the R9 390 is fit for that.

As games get omre demanding this might come in handy. Dpending on his local prices a 390 would probably not be to bad but either of them are fine. (as long as he gets a model with omre than 2GB of VRAM)
