Is these two very similar in performance or is it a big diffrence?

 

AMD R9 Fury or GeForce GTX980?

the fury beats the 980

people may say overclock the 980 and it matches b ut they are forgetting that the fury has some room to overclock too (especially the sapphire ones) so fury wins out

Generally get the fury if you play on 1440p or 4K or the 980 if you plan on staying with 1080p for some long time. The 980 is generally cheaper (if you can't get cheaper just get the R9 fury since it would get better value in that case).

Depends on your priorities. In the fps produced it depends on the resolution, at 1080p they trade blows and at higher resolutions the Fury wins.

But if you care about the quality of your gaming experience and don't like spending more time chasing problems than gaming. Get the 980.

Or better yet, save up for a 980ti.

Fury is better in most cases, but it's also a bit more expensive (in fact, if you want one of the best 980's, prices are the same)

how about Nano? it's price dropped recently, and has similar performance to Fury

the difference isnt there at 1080p, its there at 1440p, and its MASSIVE at 4k. amd drivers have really improved especially with crimson. go for the fury if its cheaper

That's because they both make so few frames. The distance usually closes as the frames rate drops

Not that easy. Even if you just want to go off fps the differences between them can be less that the difference you'll find in different examples of each because of the silicon lottery effecting performance.

For pure fps performance go Fury.

For the best bang for the buck go 390x.

For the best overall game experience go with the 980.

Each is going to give something up to gain it's place on that list, so your priorities are going to decide which is right for you.

It really depends on what you want out of your computer.  I'd say overclock the 980 and it would be better, however some argue otherwise.

Nether, always go for the strongest single card you can to leave room for future upgrades. At that price get a 980ti.
