Is it normal for one to get 87 lows to 100 in just a simple 3DS Max Render? (Also 100% CPU usage)

It was just a trial of 10 frames with realistic and some ambient occlusion. (Simple character skeleton walk cycle)

Render settings only a modest 1080x720 HD.

Just surprized me with temps like that. I have not experienced anything with any AAA games at Ultra settings  with a 1440 at 144hz gsync monitor. (Also using games that tax CPU not GPU)

Thanks!

Its a 4790k and Corsair H60

Yeah, that's a tad too high for a render. I'm scared to see what temps you would get if you were to run a CPU stress test like Intel Burn Test (What I use) or Intel XTU.

Renders will always pin the CPU at 100%, but they are less intensive on the CPU than the above tests for overclocking.

My 2500K usually runs at 68C while rendering, but pinned at 82C when under Intel Burn Test. This is a 4.6GHz overclock at 1.39v on a Hyper 212 Plus.

I would check to make sure the cooler is seated properly or if the thermal paste got scattered around by accident. You might also need to adjust the pump speed curve to kick in sooner and see if that helps.
