Right now my internet is very slow. I have a .7 upload speed and a 15 download speed. I'm not sure what would be good internet speeds, but I was wondering what the best internet provider is for an average family of 4. I would like to upload more videos to my Youtube channel but, When I upload a 20 minute video to Youtube it takes over 10 hours. It doesn't make me want to upload very many videos. Any advice/suggestions would be very much appreciated.

I know how it feels to have a terrible Internet connection. I remember uploads taking an entire day to be done. What area do you live in and what ISPs are available?

I live about 30minutes away from San Farncisco(by car). I also have no idea what an ISP is.

ISP stands for Internet Service Provider.

When I went to the Comcast/Xfinity website and looked at the options there was only 75mbps and 150 mbps. Also it said it was cheaper top get the 75mbps with HBO than just the 75mbps

Some speeds are not offered in all areas. Here in Romulus, MI you have to have the X1 platform to qualify for 150Mbps service. We have 75Mbps, most of the time I get 85 to 90 Mbps. The only thing about Comcast is they lie cheat and steal. Just remember that. Also, tell them to stick that phone service where the sun dont shine. This way you can buy your own modem and not have to use the brick of shit they give you.

My sister and brother in law pay like 80 bucks a month for 10 channels+ HBO and 75Mbps service.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Ok, so I(my family) am paying around $55 right now. So for our budget what would be the best option? Would it be better to get something else besides Comcast?

Hears the deal. Comcast will rape you when it comes to price. You just have to take it. As much as Comcast sucks when it comes to price, they have a solid network. They just started Testing DOCSIS 3.1 and have probably the largest deployment of IPv6 address on their network.

See if they have a cheaper plan. Also keep in mind:

A) They dont have the same pricing every where. Friends who live 1 hour north of us have a completely different price.

       a) Hell neighbors down the street from us have different prices.

B) They put you in to a promo for at least 6 months to a Year.

C) Call them up, see what they offer. You may have to call them up yearly and threaten to cancel, however they generally will get you in to a new promo.

If you are looking at other options then stick with a Cable or Fiber provider. I would stay the hell away from DSL.

You can go here:https://www.dslreports.com/reviews

Dsl reports specializes in ISP's. They have a review system. Put you Zip code in and read reviews. This will give you a general idea of what you can expect from local providers.

Only down side I want to mention. They have been testing Cap and Overages in several markets. They dont have them here in Michigan yet. But its generally a 300 Gig cap with 10$ for every 50 additional gigs.
