Skype bad video quality

Hi guys

 

 

looking if anyone can help me out

 

I use Skype to call my girlfriend but in the past few days the quality of the video has been dropping badly, tried everything I can think of on my end to fix it... my connection is stable and fast (55 down, 15 up 15/20ms ping), I'm wired rather than wireless, no games have any problems, teamspeak is fine, her connection is quick and stable, both have the same webcam (she has no problems her end) I've even tried reinstalling Skype no other programs have any issues just crappy skype! :angry: 

 

edit: using the video call function on Facebook works, not picture issues at all 

 

Anyone have any suggestions?

Maybe she has bad connection?

It is skype compression it looks bad no matter what

Bad upload speeds

 

Her upload speeds are fine, at least 10 mbps, no one else in her household using her internet and we both do speed tests whenever the quality drops

The connection is bad between you and her.

Skype isn't direct P2P. You have servers in between you and her. If the servers connections are too busy, or the distance travel is too high (different countries, far away), this will reduce video and audio call quality. All you can do, at the end of the call, fill up the survey saying that your experience wasn't good. If enougth people complain, new additional servers will be installed, or better connections would be acquired.

That is why you have some people with amazing experience with Skype, and others hate Skype.

Beside filling up the survey (which I recommend, if you want anything to do done, and yes it does have affect), is to use another audio/video chat software, which, perhaps, maybe, have a better connection.

If you haven't already, simply try to restart your router. Or she may have weak connection.

 

Or it could be Skype in general, since Skype is trash. If you want to video chat with someone, try another app, such as ooVoo.
