Question about front I/O

Go to solution Solved by Minsekt,

I cant find a card reader with micro sd SD SDXC

get one of these 1.260x260.jpg

sandisk offers them in bundle with their 64gb+ cards afaik

like this one here http://www.amazon.com/Lexar-High-Performance-MicroSDXC-version-LSDMI64GBBNL633R/dp/B00IF4OATU/ref=sr_1_9?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1453582682&sr=1-9&keywords=micro+sdxc

or get this one http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LHPEL66?psc=1

Hey,

I am thinking about buying this internal card reader

http://smile.amazon.com/NZXT-Aperture-Internal-5-25-Inch-AA-APMU3-B1/dp/B008KEPWMY/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1453578858&sr=8-3&keywords=internal+sd+card+reader

And i look at the connectors for the card reader, it is USB 3.0.

But i already use the USB 3.0 connector them for my case's USB 3.0

So what do I do, do i just have to buy a hub or something? or not use my case's USB 3.0?

I have The fractal design define R4

and a UD5H z97x

Cheers,

Michael

You can use adapters that convert from USB 3.0 to USB 2.0. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812162025

if your motherboard does not have 2 internal usb 3.0 connectors you have to choose what youre using. why not just buy a external card reader?

well you can just leave the USB3 header for the card reader unplugged. If the card reader only has USB3 header to plug in i'd just use those instead of your case, or buy an adapter to usb2

the internal USB3 connector is only for the two USB3 ports

the other card readers an stuff use the internal USB2 connector

you can use the card readers with only the USB2.0 header plugged in, and not the 3.0

Yes, you can decide to not use the case front i/o, add more internal usb 3.0 headers, or get another card reader that doesn't use a usb 3.0 header.

Would it hinder the performance?

Would it hinder the performance?

If you're using all of them at the same time, it might. But I don't think you'll notice it that much if it's actually there. If you want to use the reader, it's the sacrifice you'll have to make. Alternatively, you could purchase the adapter, connect your USB 3.0 ports to it and connect that to the motherboard, and then connect the reader to the USB 3.0 header.

Would it hinder the performance?

Yes, it would be limited to usb 2.0 speeds.
