Are we talking just SATA drives or any type of connector in that form factor?

Yeah SATA only sorry

In that case there actually isn't a whole lot of variation, especially when it comes to sequential speeds since all SATA SSDs are limited primarily by the SATA connector itself (hence why pcie and m.2 and nvme etc are gaining popularity)

That's not SATA, though. It's using NVMe and the PCie bus.

Fastest SATA drive would pretty much be any new-ish SSD drive. They are all pretty much equal at this point, pinning the SATA interface to the limit.

That's the point. :) He was asking about if any SSDs that were 2.5" but not SATA existed

I am asking for 2.5" ssd also not asking for your opinion I am asking for facts.

SATA only

I take that as he is looking for a normal 2.5" SSD that's using the normal SATA interface. And not anything else, like the 2.5" 750 Series. Which isn't a normal SATA interface, it's slightly different.

At the top is normal Sata DATA/Power. At the bottom is the Intel 750. Which requires a special cable and stuff.

Sorry, I guess I should have clarified a bit more.  Yes, OP is just wondering about SATA drives, but intelCore had asked about non-sata drives that were 2.5"
