Alright guys so as stated in the title this my first ever PC build so be aware of my newbieness.

First thing i am build this PC for GAMING and programming needs, I also plan on dual booting Linux.

I also plan and transporting this rather often from home to university and vice versa.

My budget is $2000CAD but i don't think i will need to use that much money as from what i have researched so far it appears a $1500CAD PC should do the trick

I plan on playing games such a Blade and soul, Diablo3, and league of legends.

I currently have one monitor and plan on sticking to one monitor the monitor i have is the

LG 21:9 CURVED ULTRAWIDE 29UC97C

I also currently own my own mechanical keyboard and a mouse so i will not need these included in my build.

Now for the actual parts.

I am not too familiar with parts especially motherboards cases and powersupplies as there just seems to be so many options but i know the specs i basically want for each part and was hoping you guys could provide exact parts and manufacturers or maybe give me tips as to what parts i should change.

Here it is:

CPU: intel i5 6600k (which i plan on overclocking heard brings great results!)

GPU: Nvidia gtx 980 or 970 (can not decide which one really advice is needed!)

PSU: from what i researched about 650Watt

Motherboard: I was thinking of  m-atx as its smaller and more convenient for transport just have idea as too which one would be good.

Storage: 250gb of SSD

Storage: 1TB hardrive

Memory: DDR4 16gb (2x8gb) of Ram heard one 8gb might do though

Case: Do not have much knowledge on case sizes basically one that can obviously house this nicely and can be portable.

Cooling: i don't know how many fans i will need if only a cpu cooler will be enough?

So yeah this is where i'm at hope i provided all the information i need for you guys to best understand my situation and help me.

Thanks a lot i see the community here is very friendly!

with a budget of $2000 you should get a 980ti

3 tips to have a good time on the LTT forums | 1. When you reply to someone please quote them | 2. Please follow your threads | 3. Follow the C.o.C

If you follow these 3 tips you should have a blast.

i'm rather proud of this for some reason. http://imgur.com/6ttS5XZ

I would build something like that, good motherboard, good case, good PSU, good graphics card etc.

it's a standard mid-tower case though...you might want something smaller? in which case i would recommend a micro ATX motherboard and another case...

this one is not very big, but it could be smaller i guess.

Is there even much of a performance increase from 5th to 6th gen intel? you could use the money you save from going to z97 and get a 980ti

you guys havnt read his post...a GTX 970 is more than enough for what he want to do with the machine and you have to respect that, obviously a 1500$ machine will do the trick like he said.

Also, he is from canada and if you want a 980ti for a 2000$ computer well good luck the GPU alone cost 1000$ so you'll end up with a G3258 and a CX430.

Alright guys so as stated in the title this my first ever PC build so be aware of my newbieness.

Skylake really isn't worth it, you could also possibly make the jump to X99 and be set for a good long while

X99 option directly translated from the US part picker, so some components could probably be cheaper, but it's still under budget, with a 390 though

Otherwise maybe throw a nicer case into this

There's a 980 for $600 aparently, I'd probably suggest that over the Nano below if the price is actually that low, not sure why, but every other 980 is around $650, though the nano is still a faster card overall
