Try restarting. normally i get degraded performance when my pc is left on for a while. ( like leaving it on overnight )

Sounds like a temperature issue.  How hot is the cpu?

Also. I leave it off for about 5 mins. just to cool down. you may not need to do that. however I do just in case.

It may be overheating

another possibility is a very, very slow or almost dead hard disc.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

sudo chmod -R 000 /*

Perhaps try a windows vm and see if that'll do it?

Did you do anything between the time when it was "fine" and when you noticed a performance drop?

Core i5 6600k | Gigabyte GTX 970 Windforce | MSI Z170 Krait Gaming Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB DDR4 2400 | NZXT S340 Red                                              EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2 | Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo | Razer Blackwidow Tournament | Logitech G600 Razer Kraken USB                                                                                                            If you want me to see your post, please remember to quote me!

I assume that restarting didn't help? And is that 36 degrees under load or while idle? If that was idle, might want to try getting a reading under load.

Just check if there is anything looking 'unusual'. e.g. things capping to 100% or one application using a lot of resources

turn it off and on again.

if that doesn't work then I would try to do a virus scan.

try uninstalling unused programs.

go into task manager and hit "end task" on the programs that are using the most of your computer's resources (that you are not using of course)

Hope I was able to help :D
