So recently I got a new CPU cooler, namely the H100i GTX and I want to get a little bit more out of my CPU. I know very little about overclocking and I just want a little bit more power. The trouble is that my motherboard only has 4+1 power phase.

SPECS:

FX 8320 Base 3.5 turbo 4.0

MSI 970A SLI Krait Edition

Corsair CX 600 PSU

Gigabyte R9 270x

Seagate 750gb HDD

H100i GTX Cooler

Corsair 760t Case

yah i dont think you should OC on 4+ 1, might go all blue smoke of death on you

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Wouldn't hurt to hop in the bios and see what you can get out of it. There are plenty of (video) guides on the internet. I haven't overclocked AMD CPUs before so im not sure if its different.

Gaming - Ryzen 9800X3D | 64GB 6400mhz cl30 9070 XT

Homelab - many servers...constantly changing.

3970X/256GB - 5950X/128GB ECC - 5600G/96GB - 3400GE/16GB - 3400GE/16GB

If it fucks up I just re seat the CMOS battery to reset it

not if you get the blue smoke. its not called that for no reson and the real consern with 4+ 1 is that there is usiually no cooling for VRMs ect so it wouldent be stabile and would hurt more then you would gain

Could you link me to a good guide I can't find any.

that guide is for intel, BUT, the core concepts are ex actually the same as far as clock speeds and voltages. This video is where I first got my knowledge on overclocking. You need to do some research to see how high you can overclock yours to and what are safe voltages. It also seems you can overclock via windows using AMD overdrive, where is this video the BIOS is used (this is what I suggest doing).

This is a very good OC guide for amd, it's for the 8350 specifically but your 8320 is very similar.
