SLI does not scale in video editing I think. I do not think you can use SLI in editing. I would get a 980 ti

It'd be better in almost every way to sell your 970 and upgrade to a 980/980ti/Fury/Fury X.

SLI has higher power consumption, compatibility problems, possible microstuttering, possibly lacking good drivers etc.

Gaming will depend on what resolution you're using. It will help definitely but if you're using a 970 to do 4k then obviously you shouldn't expect a whole ton even in sli

Like CrossFireX, there can be microstuttering, more power consumption since you have another card, and some games just don't like multi-GPU setups, causing crashes and/or performance issues.

Some games don't support SLI and there can be stuttering etc. There are potentially more issues for multi-GPU setups rather than a single GPU one.

 

Personally, I'd save up and sell off the current GTX 970 to get a 980Ti instead.

Well whatever you like to do. I'm not against multi-GPU setups, you just have to keep that in mind. But as always with PPD, one higher-end card is better than two cards below that higher-end card.

Hell no. Overclock it and it will last ya. Unless you want the newer features. But if I was you, I would do the former.

I would get a second 970. Most games work with SLI nowadays and getting a second used 970 will be cheaper and less work than selling your 970 and buying a 980ti. The performance of 2 970's is still slightly better than a single 980ti most of the time.
