Hey, everyone! Here is something i've noticed now that's it's winter and a bit colder in the home:

I get cold hands.

That sounds like a no brainer, of course. Well, yeah, i get cold hands - it's colder!

 Well, so i thought until recently I began to question the validity of this claim today; and the results were shocking!

It turns out that my hands are actually colder when i play games than if i have my hand on the keyboard and i'm just browsing the web or typing on the keyboard. I use the standard wasd keys for movement, and a mouse to look around. I really play games from all genres, so we can throw out the possibility of one genre being the malicious root cause of this problem. Indeed, i find this issue quite perplexing, and it is quite bothersome to game with cold hands. Tea helps, of course, but it only stays warm for so long, and if i want another cup/pot, i have to go to the ughhhh... pause menu, and then I have to aaaaaaghhhhhhhh!!! get up, and then i have to even UUUUCCCHHHH!!!! GO TO THE KITCHEN!!! What a hassle!

So i dunno if this is just my experience, but if someone has some valid theories on why this might be the case, please do share them with me. I would be quite happy to know the significance of this phenomenon.

By the way: as a fix, finger gloves are acceptable, though they also make gaming a bit more difficult. Not recommended for multiplayer unless you want to go ultra promode to give the noobs a chance.

I've had those before when the house gets cold. Even my hands get cold while wearing a jacket. Makes it a tad harder for me to focus while playing StarCraft II (Though I can't convince myself enough to get back into that game :P)

I suspect it's just circulation slacking off as you settle in. You wouldn't notice it, but I'll bet you're more motionless while gaming than while doing other things on the computer. Since the game holds More attention for longer, it makes sense that you would end up staying more still. Even little posture and motion changes make a big difference in circulation.

Solutions;

Turn up the heat.

Use an electric seat warmer.

Get a humidifier to increase the humidity (or just boil a gallon water it works just as well) increased humidity will help you to feel the warmth in the air better.

Get a space heater

Get up and move around more.

etc.
