So the laptop im currently typing this on came with windows 8.1 I had it for a few months then I installed the beta of windows 10, thinking It would just keep the same product key. Windows 10 had a bug which messed the Laptop up, then me being an idiot at the time I messed around and messed up my hard drive, ubuntu was installed which then was replaced by windows 7, activated, until I accidently unactivated it, then made it activated again. Does the original Windows 8.1 key Still work/ Exist and where can I find it? I think its an oem version but on the exact same pc..

Thanks :D

Tried looking on the bottom of the laptop or under the battery for the COA sticker? Key might be on there if the sticker is still there

the only codes are:

Model Number

MFG Date

S/N

SNID

Any of these? :)

Also I have seen outher ones with a windows 8 logo, mine doesnt have that

The Windows key might be embedded in the BIOS itself. There are tools to recover it from there or possibly just access the bios and look for it there, but I doubt you'll find it...

In any case, since you had Windows 10, activated, on that laptop before. You could just reinstall that, don't input any key when prompted, and it will automatically activate when you next connect to the internet.

Its not visible there. But installation or recovery will pick it during process. No harm in trying? Get recovery media from laptops product page or use another method if so stated in manual.
