Hello forum members,

 

As the title states, which one is recommended for watercooling? Jay and others on the Overclock3D  recommend PETG, due to it being easier to bend.

 

 

What would be a reason to use Acrylic?

To be honest i don't feel the "extra" fragility of acrylic is a point worth making. A side from shipping, which should be done disassembled with hardline builds anyways i don't see any scenarios where it would be an issue.

You can't use glycose based coolant with PETG... Again a non issue for most. The major selling point to me is the possibility to use tube cutters on PETG.

Can someone comment on UV transmittance? Acrylic is not UV transparent and thus sucks under UV lighting. But what about PETG? Im asking about real world experience

 

I think the durability argument is silly since the tubes are not load bearing parts. Its like saying your PCI-E slot is made of plastic.

Being crystal clear and super smooth makes it so much better with dyes.

Hmm interesting. What about PETG though. I know acrylic can glow if you put enough UV lights in, or use green which glows more easily. Meanwhile even colors like orange can glow very brightly with just 2 strips if you are using soft tubing.

 

I don't want like 5 UV light strips though. It radiates purple too much which you can't see in photos because most cameras have poor low light performance.
