well a laptop and a notebook are the same thing unless I am missing something here

a notebook it a type of laptop isn't it maybe we are both mssing something and loptops are some new hip piece of tech

I'd definitley recommend to buy a lightweight laptop with only an SSD and no extra fancy graphics, for college etc. And if you want a gaming machine, get a nice PC. I personally tried to get away with only buying a 'powerfull' laptop for everything. Didn't work out too well. I couldn't stand the miserable performance of my laptop and had to pony up for a gaming rig after only 2 years! -..-
