Does clothing impact productivity or creativity - Survey

AlTech

Hi all,

I've got another survey that was insipired by what i felt like on a non uniform day at my school one day.

I've gone back to using Google Docs.

Thanks for filling this out  :)

Once there is a plethora of data, the data will be analyzed and compiled to form a conclusion in Off Topic.

I think clothes regulation is a waste for most jobs, as long as the clothing isn't revealing/provocative (for jobs where the worker interacts directly with costumers, I can see the point)

We shall see what everyone else thinks soon.  Personally I feel more productive when wearing what I want.

I generally show up to work in a polo and jeans. Can show up wearing whatever.  Engineer so there's not really a dress code.

Would probably wear a dress shirt and slacks every day if it didn't require a lot more laundry effort.  I'm handsome in a suit.

Is it really easy to be creative if you can't express yourself?

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.

Meh I don't really think so, if you are REALLY unhappy with what you wear and that makes you sad then yes it may impact on creativity/productivity/motivation

Longboarders/ skaters message me!

I find the people effect it more. If you have people that constantly encourage and support you then you're going to do well.

Clothing should just be a reflection of your personality, but if it is restrictive, I wouldn't use it as a caveat to under-perform in the workplace. Granted I work in a creative field, so it might be different with more rigid professions. Like an accountant, or a lawyer.

I went to an all-boys school with VERY strict uniform rules. If you don't have your blazer, you need to wear a jersey. If it's 30C outside, and you're in the public eye, a teacher can give you detention for not wearing your blazer.

It worked well for the environment they trying to create, which brings me to my point actually. A dress code should reflect the environment it's trying to create. For an all boys' school, strict AF uniform rules worked. For a creative workplace, civvies can work fine too.

tl;dr Don't wear a onesie to an interview

Hmm, this really made me think.

I spend almost all of my days from 6 to 21 in military clothing, the exact same as everybody else. And I don't think I'm that much more productive.

But a military environment is not exactly a work environment in all ways.

Stock coolers - The sound of bare minimum

No it doesn't. If you're lazy/bad at managing and are very strict at a dress code with all employees it can impose order and a sense of boundaries on some of them, but that doesn't means there aren't other effective ways to motivate and encourage employees.
