External DVD Drive Power

How much power would my usb external dvd/disc drive waste if i leave it plugged into my rear USB 2.0 IO on motherboard when im not reading/writing/have disc in with it? It uses one usb hub to power the device and another USB hub for data

A USB 2.0 wont have enough power. Use a USB 3.0 adapter instead.

maybe, 1 watt, if your mobo supports powered off charging, else none

There mgiht be a chance that it might bring up power while idle. What is the power draw on your extern?

OOHH! Well that would only draw much power if it was working. If it's just idle with nothing inside there wouldn't be a real concern.

depends on the drive, if you mobo supports, it, which i cant find out, so little chance, maybe 0,1 watts, which is veeerry little
