Hey everyone. So I wanted to design a Small Form Factor m-itx CPU Liquid Cooler. I saw theH5 from Corsair but I think they could have done better. BTW this isnt intended for maximum performance. post-252058-0-74888800-1452727476.png tHIS IS THE h5

I was thinking of going for a CPU Block + Pump / Reservoir Combo from swifttech. If I can find the correct socket. post-252058-0-01659700-1452727430.jpg This one is LGA 775.

For the Radiator I was thinking in a 25mm or slimer, 120mm rad or less. I think 90mm would be ideal. But I havent found ant 90mm ones, so a 25mm Rad from EK would be fine.post-252058-0-73232500-1452727444.jpg

For the fan I would go for something like the Slip Stream 2000 RPM 120mm Slim Fan that is 120mm for the 120mm Rad.

To make this hole thing have sense. I was thinking in mounitng the fan to the rad and House it all in a small cube with the CPU block and have the tubing hidden away with just an opening for the fan.

THIS IS GOING TO BE A LOT BIGGER THAN IN THIS DRAWING BUT THI IS JUT A VISUAL REPRESENTATION OF HOW ITS GOING TO BE HOUSEDpost-252058-0-13653800-1452728101.png

SO what do you think? any changes I should make?

I'm by no means an expert at liquid cooling, but I would assume that the manufacturers have put a lot of work into matching up the various pressures and fits so that parts don't seize up or leak.  I'd be scared to death to try customizing that, but again I'm so scared of leaks I haven't even installed an AIO yet.

why not just buy an AIO...

they fit perfectly fine in mitx and will be cheaper than what youre trying to build

i have an h100i gtx and overclocked my i5 one full gigahertz and no leaks have happened to me.

Why dont you just use a aircooler the same size? Judging from where you have the radiator/fan defeats the entire purpose of a AIO in a small case.

because you need to mount the rad. Thats why im planning on custom buiding one with the rad inside a box with no mounting in the case like the H5 from corsair.

That would be useful with your lightcannon.  :P  :P  :P

for the sake of science. I know i may be a little crazy bur i like creating stuff. And i imagined this and i thought it would be interesting

wait what?

so the rad is outside the PC?

for the cpu. if thats waht you are askeing. My purpose of making this? science!!!

What I meant was why are you needing another cooler, the custom loop, if your using the H5 in a SFF case, the H5 is a blower style rad completely different from a regular 120mm AIO system or even a custom loop. So yeah I'm not too sure where your trying to go with this.

Doing things just for the sake of science can be good, but think through your idea before you try to make it. I have had countless ideas that sounded good in my head, but turned out terrible in reality. If you want to make a custom AIO, start with buying/dismantling a pre-built AIO. This will allow you to have an idea of the components needed/used and what needs to change. I have learned how to fix/make things by taking them apart (mostly nerf guns) and messing around with the parts.

oh no, its not outside the case.

The rad, fan and cpu block are inside a little cube or metal box that you just pop into your cpu like an intel stock cooler and done. No extra mounting required, that saves you sapce en SFF cases, or handheld spotlights.

im not going to build a rad if thats what you are saying. buy a rad, cpu block, fan, put some tubing and pour the coolant.

Oh ok, cause from the looks of things though as nice as the H5 is it will be out performed by a 120mm custom loop or even AIO's, since physically it is just smaller and doesn't have as much cooling potential or surface area. As long as the case has a 120mm mounting spot above or near the CPU I would go with that instead.

it will be like having a custom loop inside a box with the size of the H5. i just put the picture of th H5 for perspective of how it was gonna be but a lot of people got confused that i was going to mod the H5.

Yeah I get that now I was thinking you wanted to ghetto mod it at first with that CPU block, just make sure your case has that exhaust just above the IO plate for the H5, not that many cases currently can use it.

so basically just like a heatsink?

what's the point then?
