1066Mhz FSB to 800MHz FSB w/ Max Support 800MHz

Hey, welcome to my topic here, I'm having an aging 9 years old laptop. It was the DELL Vostro 1400 with, 4 GB of RAM, Intel Core 2 Duo T5270 @ 1.4GHz 2 MB Cache, and an Intel GM965 Chipset. I cannot work with the laptop anymore cause of the processor 1.4GHz so I want to change it. I head out to my local online store and I find out:

Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 @ 2.26GHz 3MB Cache

Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 @ 2.4GHz 3 MB Cache

I find out that this CPUs are 1066MHz, they're cheap and unfortunately after I check some forums about GM965 Chipset compatibility, these CPUs above is not compatible. Some are saying 'you can if the socket was the same (Socket P)' some are saying NO. It was a though decision for me. My GM965 chipset has a max FSB of 800MHz.

Can my laptop run these 1066MHz or I've to buy some 800MHz FSB CPU? Oh, I've also checked my local online store, it has no CPU that are compatible with the Forum list, I mean the model not the FSB.

No. While the socket may be the same, if the chipset can't handle the CPUs, they won't work

Here's a list of compatible CPUs for the GM965 chipset: http://ark.intel.com/products/29821/Intel-82GM965-Graphics-and-Memory-Controller#@compatibility
