Dual GTX 970 vs Single GTX 980

AsrielDreemurr
Go to solution Solved by Kobathor,

Single 980 for less heat. The two 970s would be way more powerful, but you're paying more, using more electricity, producing more heat ect. I'd get a 980 if you have the budget.

Hey, this is on B-Stock. INSANE GPU. http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=04G-P4-3987-RX If you have $429 I'd jump on this deal.

A'ight. Between the two, which would perform the best on 1080p panel? Which solution would be quietest? And, finally, which would have the least heat output? (If you answer, please list pros and cons to make it easier for me :3)

If you play Geometry Dash, would you take the time to rate this demon? 14986973 ;3;

970x2 would be much faster, but 980ti is a better choice instead of 2x970

I'd go for the single 980.  Not only will you get less heat, but you won't experience stutter in games with poor SLI support.

Dual GTX 970,

Pros:

Better performance per dollar

Faster than single GTX 980

Same price as the GTX 980

Cons:

2 Cards will need more power

Heat... well depends on your config

Go for the Dual GTX 970, I would say

For 1080p two 970's is overkill just go for a 980.

CPU: 6700K Case: Corsair Air 740 CPU Cooler: H110i GTX Storage: 2x250gb SSD 960gb SSD PSU: Corsair 1200watt GPU: EVGA 1080ti FTW3 RAM: 16gb DDR4

Other Stuffs: Red sleeved cables, White LED lighting 2 noctua fans on cpu cooler and Be Quiet PWM fans on case.

970 SLI crushes 980

it even beats 980ti

if you can live with dual GPU issues(time to fix/set up everything)

then go for it
