Will this build (mostly cpu cooler) work for a few months until I can get the water cooling figured out?

Also should I just figure out fans for water cooling now or purchase a few cheap ones and not worry about noise?

Any other advice on build is welcome.

Build is going to be used for dev/gaming in a virtualization env. GPU passthrough is why amd card.  External storage, monitors, mouse, keyboard are already in place.

Thanks

EDIT: New build with suggested cpu changes. I also added another gpu now vs later.

So should I still think about a different PSU knowing that once I get a water cooling setup in place I will be doing a bit of overclocking?

I'd grab a cheaper 5820K and X61 Kraken AIO liquid cooler. Change out the PSU for a cheaper one, the 1000W one is overkill for just one 390X.

Yea, there is absolutely no reason to buy a 5930k (even if you actually needed the pcie lanes, a plx motherboard + 5820k is generally cheaper than a 5930k with a regular/mid range motherboard). Please don't.

It's fine, but do you really need the extra PCI-e lanes from the 5930k? If you aren't overclocking the Hyper 212 is fine

Maybe get the Power Color Devil Hybrid 390X, it's the best 390X available

https://pcpartpicker.com/part/powercolor-video-card-axr9390x8gbd5adhe

and the power supply is a bit overkill, maybe look for an 850W unless you're going to add more GPUs, no idea how crossfire virtualization is going to work out though

And the HAF XB Evo is about the most functional case around, and actually if you get the HAF XB EVO what you can do is mount the GPU radiator in the back of the case, a 240mm Radiator onto the front of the case, and then a 200mm low RPM quiet fan for the intake on the top, cooling is also going to be pretty direct in that case, no pun intended

Yeah agree with others, a 5820k will be much better for you. You could use the extra money to get an aio like the kraken x61 (as HKZeroFive said).

Also agree with Streetguru, the PowerColor Devil is a great 390x card.

Stick with the board I have then just with other chip or get a different board?

I'm going to do a custom wc loop once I decide on components. Only then would I be overclocking.  I will probably be adding another 390 also at some point.

Are you crossfire is going to work under virtualization? or are you going to do like 2 virtual machines with a GPU each?

Overclocking a workstation generally isn't advisable, as you want it as stable as possible

There is a Triple Slot Dual 390 GPU out that's pretty good for the money if you can find it now

Maybe up your PSU to a 1200W in that case, this one seems to have some decent reviews, it gives you plenty of headroom for 2 390s or 390x GPUs, not sure if there's a better 1200W that one just had some decent reviews, a one JonnyGuru reviewed the 1000W version and recommended it, he's like the power supply guy basically
