do what you think is best...

Not the best practice but...

(This is someone else's PC; you don't want to be part of the liability)

What is the motherboard in question?

According to the NZXT 410 Tempest user manual, there should be nine motherboard stand-offs included withe a computer case, though with more recent motherboards, ATX form factor motherboards may have that many stand-off mounting points.

I asked for more but they only gave me one standoff, idk what to do. I've asked and people told me to buy any standoffs but people told me that I have to get the one adequate for my motherboard

Classified

From what I can see, the EVGA Z97 Classified has 10 stand-off mounting points, and your motherboard should have enough mounting points for all 10.

Yes, the size of the motherboard stand-offs CAN vary between each computer case manufacturer, BUT the common standard these days is M3 #6-32 x 4mm (4mm thread length). M3 #6-32 will always be it, its the length that can vary (i.e. 4mm, 6mm, 8mm, etc).

BUT if you want to be 100% sure, it is best to measure the stand-offs you currently have, and go to the local PC store, or look for the proper ones online.

Better yet, bring a stand-off in with you and ask the local PC shop, "I want to buy more of THIS."

If you have a Microcenter near-by (double check with the guys who work there, or bring one stand-off with you...like like 4mm in the pictures)

$2.99 for a pack of 15: http://www.microcenter.com/product/218738/Brass_Spacer_6-32

NewEgg...black colour set of screws (thread count is definitely 4mm; I dug out some of my extra stand-offs to measure and compare with :) )

$6.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811998139&cm_re=motherboard_stand_off-_-11-998-139-_-Product

Fry's also seems to have a few kits, but best to actually go into the store to look.
