Hello!

I am going to build a computer sometime during this summer. I've heard, from some of my friends, that the new Pascal GPU:s will launch during this summer. Is this right or have Nvidia confirmed anything?

whatever you do, you can't be worse than me.

I bought a 780 the day before the 970/980 were released

For the first time in a long time, AMD is actually releasing their cards first.

Which probably means they have something big up their sleeve with Polaris.

As for Pascal, late Q3 at best, Polaris is already shipping and will be released pretty soon.

Secretly, AMD have perfected HBM2 and have 16GB VRAM per chip.

I sure hope so, I plan on getting a flagship card.

GG AMD, getting back on top. Hopefully Zen is pretty good too, if it's decent enough and they release mITX boards for it, I'll totally upgrade to that.

I really hope so too. If they fail on either, they're going to be in for a world of hurt.

Oke! Thank you very much! :D

Though, do you think that I should wait unitl the relese or build it this summer?

You can go and wait forever or buy when you need hardware. It is just January 2016 now. 6 months can be a long time and then I have to ask myself how come that everybody thinks, that AMD is going to release a big chip right to the start of a new architecture and manufacturing process... based upon the last 10 years in GPUs we should all have learned meanwhile that the yield rates are rather low in the beginning and a big chip isn´t very likely.

So I'm guessing you have solid proof of when AMD and nVidia are officially releasing their cards? Would you please show me where it came from AMD and nVidia's press release where they stated the exact date, exact month and exact week as to when these cards release? Internet tumors do not count.

TIA.

When the hell did I say an exact date?

I said Polaris releases Q2, and probably early Q2 since they are on shipping containers already.

Pascal is obviously not finished, so I doubt it will be released in Q2.

No need to be so critical, I was judging based on what AMD has said, and what we've seen being shipped.

You said AMD is releasing first, but you have NO proof of that other than your speculation. Speculation is not proof outside of the person who thinks it's true.

Pascal has been taped out since June 2015.

Please stop spreading misinformation when nobody knows anything. Just because a "leak" that supposedly shows these Polaris cards shipping has nothing to do with the readiness of said cards, nor does the "lack" of Pascal GPU rumors have any bearing of when nVidia is releasing theirs.

At CES it was "rumored" nVidia showed off GP104 for their self driving cars. Yet, I'm not going on about saying "hey look!!!!, there's Pascal, it's coming out in 2 weeks!!!!!!"

The fact is nobody knows who is coming out with their products first nor does anybody know when they're coming out.

It is hard, and so it seems especially for those who think they need to live the 'INSERT_BRAND_NAME is superior' mentality, for some people to live off facts. I don´t like to participate in those speculations, because people will remember and if you were right you´re the lucky hero... but if you weren´t people will always remember you as a troll.

I don't really have the money right now. If I don't get a lot of money from somewhere I didn't think I should, I'll probably have the money in the start/middle of July.

Should I build it then or wait until the relese of the new cards, since it shouldn't be that long until the relese of them?

Well if you have to wait until the mid of the year I´d say don´t worry about it now and ask again in July or August because we might be able to give you better and correct info on the subject :).
