Alright, so my friend just pre-ordered the Oculus Rift that is releasing in May, but I've been reading a lot of comments on some of the videos from CES talking about how the hardware right now won't suffice for a great gaming experience. So, I'm wanting to make a build that is still going to run it pretty close to the best we can get right now, but can be upgrades later to accommodate the Oculus Rift later for a better experience. Budget between $1,500-$3,000 but around 2k would be preferable. Nvidia is a preferred choice, but if there's going to be a benefit to AMD then of course, AMD.

Thanks

I'd wait for Pascal/ Arctic Islands/ Polaris before getting a GPU.

Since it's not coming out for some time.

Just remember: Random people on the internet ALWAYS know more than professionals, when someone's lying, AND can predict the future.

I don't know, but make sure you can have enough plugs for five simultaneous oculuses! battle block theater (the game) supports up to five at the same time. check the trailer out on steam.

also, make sure you get good RAM if you decide you want to play that game, I hear that game has RAM throttling powah.

We can't Benchmark like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to shove more GPUs in your computer. Like the time I needed to NV-Link, because I needed a higher HeavenBench score, so I did an SLI, which is what they called NV-Link back in the day. So, I decided to put two GPUs in my computer, which was the style at the time. Now, to add another GPU to your computer, costs a new PSU. Now in those days PSUs said OCZ on them, "Gimme 750W OCZs for an SLI" you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had two GPUs in my rig, which was the style at the time! They didn't have RGB PSUs at the time, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big green ones.

I just thought Furys would be appropriate for this (Seeing as they beat 980s are higher resolutions)

fair enough.
