I've got an MSI R9 290X with a Twin Frozr IV cooler, I run it permanently downvolted to -75mV, -10% power limit, while being OC'd to 1075mhz core. Load temps 76-78 degrees.

If I OC it, 1150mhz core / 1450mhz memory with +44mV voltage and max power limit, 88-90 degrees (but it needs to be @ 100% for 30 min + to reach these temps, in normal gameplay with cutscenes etc it stays around 85-86 degrees)

76c and downvolted LOL

damn they run hot :P

with stock cooler it throttles.

wel not as bad as thermi

How often do you upgrade? You planning to upgrade to Polaris?

When my card can't give satisfying performance on the game i play, but the reason i upgraded to 290x from 7950 because the 290x was on promo price, i couldn't resist.

Depend on price/performance and features of Polaris or Pascal.

What's satisfying to you then? :o

Polaris seems like they're focusing on the lower end models tho...

Pascal will prob interest you

Depend on futures games and how much better image quality per performance i'm getting in upcoming games.

For examples, if in upcoming Mafia 3 my 290x only able to drive medium settings@60fps and image quality between medium or high/ultra is huge, then i probably gonna upgrade the card.

Xfx or sapphire for best cooling solution?

Lightning, followed by Twin Frozr, followed by XFX DD and club 3d, followed by Windforce.

Supposedly Sapphire cards are better than DD.

Vapor-X coolers are the best you can get. The only ones who can rival them are the Lightning and K|ngP|n

Tri-X is also solid but the Vapor-X has a massive Vapor Chamber base that spreads the heat out much better than any amount of heatpipes.

Yep the Vaporx is the best cooler, the really impressive numbers are the VRM temperatures than NEVER go into the 70's. Even when overclocking as far as the card will go. Made my Vaporx a better overclocker than my Nitro 390.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

Is it worth the price tho? From a cost efficiency perspective would you had chosen a trix or vaporx?
