Maybe change the two GTX 970's for a GTX 980ti or two R9 390's.

You probably aren't going to need a 1000 watt PSU, but 850W should give ample space for future upgrades.

Spoiler

Intel G3258 (Corsair H60, OC'd to 4.5 GHz) | Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB (1x8) | Gtx 750Ti | Corsair CX500M | WD Black 750 GB 7200 RPM HDD | Cooler Master Elite 335U (donated by friend)

You probably would be better with a single GTX 980ti.

Nope

then get the Fury X, it does better at stock speeds than the 980 Ti. If you aren't planning to OC the CPU either you an get away with a non-k skew like the 4790 and the H97 board you listed. I would still recommend keeping the option to OC open and go with a Z97 board and the 4790k as well as a good 980Ti, it will cost a little more but im guessing from the 1TB SSD that money isnt too tight.
