Hey guys,

My Modem/Router is currently in another room of my house. I currently have a 50'' Ethernet cable running from it to my PC as of now. Though I would love to be able to make my Xbox have a wired connection too. Instead of needing to run another cable, or having to unplug my cable from my PC, and then into my Xbox and vice versa, is there some sort of splitter?

As in I would plug the 50'' cable in one end, and it splits off into two? So I'd be able to plug one cable into my Xbox and one into my PC?

If this was possible, would it effect my speed or connection?

Thanks guys

I'd just get an 4 port switch by TPLink they're cheap and work great! I have a few around my house :)

Thanks guys!

Now if I got this "Switch", is there an actual switch I press to switch between what I want connected right? Or does it work some other way?

Nope, just plug the cable coming from the router into one port and plug whatever else you want into the other ports. You can use all the devices connected to the switch at the same time

It isn't a "switch" the way that an A/V switcher works (like the ones to use multiple inputs on a TV). A network switch is actually an active piece of electronics that "switches" the packets to the appropriate ethernet cable based on the destination.
