Opinion about VTX3D Fury X

Hey, so in France I can get a VTX3D Fury X for 590 euros instead of 700 (590 € = 640 USD and 700 euros = 760 USD), it's the price of a high end GTX 980. I would like to know if this is a good brand and if it is as valuable as saphire, powercolour... I can't find any test or opinions about this particular card. I'm thinking about getting an 1440p monitor later, because I know a furyX or even a gtx 980 are quite overkilled for 1080p gaming.

Also I'd like to know if it's a good idea to upgrade now or if I should wait for the new cards that will come in 2016, considering that i'm not really Interested in VR.

Sorry if this is not very well written, english isn't my main language so feel free to tell me if I made any mistake, It'll help me improve my englsih.

Thank you.

VTX3D is a TUL company so it's the same thing as Powercolor. You can't go wrong since all Fury X GPUs are the same.

Smaller companies tend to be better about RMA' s and support. It's the same cooler design, anyway. I'd buy it.

Intel Core i7-6700K | Corsair H105 | Asus Z170I PRO GAMING | G.Skill TridentZ Series 16GB | 950 PRO 512GB M.2

Asus GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB STRIX OC | BitFenix Prodigy (Black/Red) | XFX PRO Black Edition 850W

My BuildPCPartPicker | CoC

it's a reference FuryX with the cheap ass cooler master cooling solution on it, they only slapped a VTX3D sticker on the fan so it's just as good (bad) as all the other furyX available on the market.

What card(s) and what monitor do you have right now? what games do you play?

For fucks sake woman, you want him to pay 200Eu more for a 980 only to have 25% lower performance? What kind of advice is that? Spend more for the green sticker >.<

VTX are solid. No need to worry. All Fury Xs come with the same cooler by Cooler Master with a block that covers the core and VRMs so as to not have them cause issues. You can expect 58*C to be the max temp for the core at 22*C room temperature and the Gentle Typhoon fan is among the most silent static pressure fans on the market.

Was just about to say "There is no justification for going for a 980(non-Ti) when it's 200Eu more" :D

But still, calling Gentle Typhoon fans cheap and bad? What next? EVGA have bad support?

That's a killer. Is it worth it? 970 to 980, I'd say yes. 980 to 980ti, I'd say yes. 390x to Fury, I'd say yes. Fury to Fury x, I'd say yes. Doesn't matter it it's a 100% rise in cost for 10% performance. If you have the cash and need the performance it's worth it. It's all subjective. But the golden rule is if you have the gold, use it.

Yes but from a Fury X to 980(non-TI) for 100EU over? That's impossible to justify.

I currently have an iiyama prolite b248HSU-B1 and a gtx 760 but like I said I'm probably gonna buy a 1440p monitor with freesync. I'm playing all kinds of game : fallout 4, cs go, tomb raider, skyrim. I'd like to play The witcher 3 wild hunt. My card doesn't really like me modding fallout 4 (I can't handle ultra either). I first wanted to buy a 980 but considering it's the same price as this fury x...

Sure, go for it. The Fury X is a fantastic card, especially at that price point.

did i said ANYTHING about buying that overpriced higher-end GTX 980 instead son?! no?! then WTF why are you saying that?!

all i'm saying is that i wouldnt buy a graphics card that ship with a cheap ass 35$ cooler master AIO cooling solution on it...i would fear the pump would die long before the card becomes irrelevant and then i'd be stuck with it...that,s all i'm saying. i'd rather have a good quality air cooled Fury a sapphire card for example over that watercooled pos...that's all i'm saying.

Not one review has said anything bad about the AIO. Where exactly are you basing this off of? Or are you pulling the old Patrick "I AM MY OWN SOURCE, BELIEVE ME!". Cite a source for the cooler being bad or get out. It's already sporting one of the higher end SP fans you can buy.

actually....14% is more like it:

still, I'M NOT recommending the 980...maybe a well priced lower end 980? maybe...?! or straight up a air cooled Fury or a R9 390.

There are some ridiculously overpriced "premium" models out there. Actually quite comical. And most of them don't offer anything in return but a name.

they ALL reported bad coil whine coming from the pump and they ALL reported the pump felt too weak and cheap and that they used a cheap 35$ CPU AIO pump and slaped it on the thing and charged AMD 10$ per units. GO READ.

I will quote the vast majority of LTT

"Userbench doesn't matter"

Personally, I find them hit or miss by about 20% but game benchmarks are better.

You've been living under a rock apparently. THAT WAS FIXED A YEAR AGO. The first 20 or so samples sent for review had it. The pump has been since then replaced with a different one.

That's the fix for current owners - the first 20 peeps. Others get a different pump.

As for it's quality, I did NOT hear quality mentioned. Only pump noise. Something present to a different degree in EVERY AIO EVER MADE.

well you should know by now that those super low cost cooler master or asetek cooling solutions are sketchy, they do not last very long they are not well built they are low cost quick fix solutions and this is the reason why AMD sourced cooler master to provide cheap ass watercooling solutions like that.

i would never buy a 600$ graphics card with one of these for cooling, never. AMD or nvidia, does not matter.
