Android Auto Problems

I've recently purchased an Android Auto head unit for my vehicle (Pioneer 4100NEX) to use with my Galaxy S4. The head unit it great, but Android Auto has been mediocre at best. It looses connection and freezes every time I try to use it. For example:

Played a song; a few minutes into the song- Dropped connection.

Switched over to google maps and spoke a location- Dropped connection.

Switched from google play music to spotify - Dropped connection.

Each time it would do this I would pick up my phone and it would seem very warm like it was overheating. I've tried this on wifi and near full service on 4GLTE, so I'm fairly certain it isn't the wireless connection that is the problem.

Does anyone know of a simple fix to this or is it just time to buy a new phone?

Hi, try to change your usb cable. Even if mine was a Samsung one it was too old to provide sufficent power, leading to continuous connections drops...
