I have Sapphire R9 280x Dual-X and I am getting 80°C with GTA V.

Is it just fine or should I invest a water cooling for my GPU? Iooks like the cheap one I can get is NZXT Kraken G10.

I am hoping to get more input from you guys.. Thanks!

Nah, you don't really need a WC. Sometime a simple cable management and airflow tweak can improve the temp quite significantly.

That's too much for extended periods of time, I suggest you do something about it, my 290X doesn't exceed 78 degrees after I fixed some issues with it

My CPU runs around 65°C do you think it contributes to the heat of my GPU?

I will purchase a new CPU cooler most likely tomorrow. Will it also somehow improve my GPU Temps?

Actually I have a pretty big case and all cables are not visible, they are well placed at the other side of the case.. So most likely there's no problem with the airflow. Maybe my CPU temps reaching around 65°C contributes to the GPU heat. I'll purchase CPU cooler online by tomorrow. I hope they can deliver it soon so I can test..

Nah, the GPU is below the CPU, heat goes up so if it contributes, maybe a little, too little to be relevant imo, I'd rather adjust the fan curve on the 280X if you feel uncomfortable with 80 degrees, but I can tell you that it's a perfectly fine temp

The kraken g10 is a lot of money and time for a temperature that is not out of the ordinary.

It also isnt worth it unless you plan to do some balls to the wall overclocking, as you will have to do some DIY cooling for the vrm (the kraken does not properly address vrm cooling.

Yea I researched it and it seems fine but a little over 80 wont be fine. So I want to to at least stay at 70. Hehe. Thanks for the response I'll focus on my CPU then since I believe it's becoming too hot.. For i5-4460 reaching 70 is too hot right?

Did you try to reapply the thermal paste first? There is 3rd party cooler that perform better than some aftermarket cooler and cheaper than G10 + AIO.

Im using stock cooler and I purchased them less than a month ago, should I reapply the thermal paste before buying new coolers?

Actually, It's fine, AMD already stated the card is fine to reach a maximum of 95oc for extended periods of time, but anything over will shorten the life of the card, of which it will automatically shutdown anyway.

What AMD stated isn't necessarily 100% accurate. I'm almost certain that if you run the card at 95 degrees all the time it will break down significantly faster than at, let's say 70 degrees

Sapphire R9 290X Vapor-X runs cooler than majority of GTX 970's, 66 degrees full load.

I didn't say Vapor-X, I'm on about the stock blower style R9 290X
