Mechanical Keyboard Club!

Dave :)

I am quite taken aback by the Model M, somehow, I'd expected it to perform badly in games. When I played my usual test game, UT3, I'm surprised to find myself doing as well as with my Cherry MX KB's....but I'd have to admit that my fingers do get a workout. Typing and gaming with the Model M adds a whole new level of loudness, these buckling spring sure as heck do make a ruckus.......but, I'm enjoying it nonetheless.

BTW, Lukiose, that makes 9 I have, will shoot past 10 when DS III debuts.....I may return the Trigger Green as I'm not quite satisfied with its condition......but will replace it with a spanking new Trigger Green. Heck, I will be getting the new Trigger Green in a day or two, and prolly return the Trigger Green I have now next week for a full refund......so, technically, I'll have 10 mech KB's temporarily this week.

Pics of the Storm Trigger has been posted, so I'm not going to do that, just one pic of the Cherry Green switch below the key caps-

Now, my long awaited Model M, had to wait for it, but finally, it's mine, had to buy an adapter for the supplied AT connector with a female AT -> PS/2 adapter, works pretty well. The unit is in very good condition,

As you can see below, the key caps are in excellent condition, I don't think I need to do anything other than wiping them with some antiseptic solution.

AWESOME! Enjoy it dude! B)  Some don't like Black switch, I for one like it. Just tried a few rounds of UT3 with my Model M, quite satisfying experience as it handles games pretty well, though I do admit my fingers are a little tired pressing the pretty heavy keys. Odd, I find myself liking just about every freaking mech KB's I've tried.....

Haha yeah same here. I just like the feel of all the keyboards I have. I'm ok with blacks, but I actually like the clicks from blue switches. Oh well, I got a free Shine 2! LOL

A free Shine2, wow that's nice!  I absolutely love my Shine 2 boards.  However, when it comes down to it, I love my K70 the most.  The experience on that board is butter smooth and it's the best looking board out there IMO.  Corsair needs to hurry with the K70 MX Brown.

So, I got rid of both my Ducky Shine II.  The TKL MX Brown with blue backlighting went to the finance guy in the Office, he absolutely loved it!  The full-size MX Blue with purple backlighting went to one of our sales girls......she fell in love with it and she's not a techy type of person either even though she sells the hell out of IT.  :D

But, I must have at least 1 Ducky so I ordered the full-size Shine II MX Brown with blue backlighting and white keycaps.  I really need the Ten-Key and the chalky/scratchy loose feel of the CM Limited Edition Quickfire TK isn't cutting it for full time use, I'll use it for travel only.

Good catch there, ARod, I have the same model but with green LED and Blue switch........and I love it too! :D  Heck, there hasn't been a mech KB that I have tried and not like.......guess I don't have a switch preference. I'm still using my Model M to type this message, and I'm enjoying the feel, and the NOISE it makes. I will be using it for the next few days before I'd put it into storage.....then, I'd be on the Green for a while. B)

Yeah, after messing around with enough different MKs I've finally arrived at MK perfection......at least until Corsair releases the K70 with Browns.  Behold..... the Ducky Shine II Blue Backlit MX Brown with white keycaps.  I do love it so!  Had to turn the lighting all the way down to take a proper pic.

Corsair K70 Cherry MX Red

In the first picture, it looks like the space bar has the same textured coating as the WASD and 1,2,3,4,5 keys.

I know they include the regular, non-textured keys to replace the WASD and number keys, but I don't think they do for the space bar?

I hope I'm just seeing things, but I would hate for the space bar to feel different from the rest of the keys.. that would really bother me.

Finally unhooked my Model M from my 2nd rig and replaced it with the Filco MJ Ninja. The Model M will go into my collection of mothballed KB's.......with my DS II 78 Version with my main rig, and the CM Quick Fire TK with my 3rd rig........

I've mothballed my DS II Blue Special Ed with white key caps, the CM Storm Trigger Red (my very first mech), a Ducky DK9087G2 Pro with white PBT caps, the Armaggeddon MKA-3 Cherry Red and the Model M. Going to find a box to put the Model M in, then they will be stored nearby should I be in a mood for a change.

cool :) if I lived in America I think I would go for something similar, just because #saving money, I went for a Ducky Zero because it was the cheapest one I could find where I live... BUT something cheaper came out like a couple months later which kind of sucked XD

The wasd 123456 keys do have the normal key replacements  but you are correct. The space bar is textured just like the wasd keys and doesn't come with a smooth one.

Darn, that's too bad. Hopefully they change this by the time the K70 with Brown switches comes out. Thanks for the confirmation.
