So last year I was all excited I did my first water cooling loop.....it has been a disaster.  I was a pain to get it to get installed....it is losing water...I don't know how but my components have not been affected.  All I know is I currently can't game on my computer because I don't want to hurt my components.  Because it has been such a wreck I want to dump the whole thing and start the whole bloody thing over as cost ineffective as that is.  But if I do that....I want more help with the new loop so where do I go or who can help me make attempt 2 less of a train wreck...?

here!  and us!  (those were responses to where to go and who can help  :D )

losing water isn't good!  the best place to start will probably be pictures of the loop/pc and a list of components, both PC and watercooling

If i knew that I won't be considering scraping it....would I?  Honestly guys....as I said before I want help with a redo....not  detective work on let's see what weird thing I have managed to do.  If I can save components fine.  Help me with how to test them....and probably clean them....

Get some distilled water, fill everything with hot boiling distilled and fit the g1/4 blanks you normally get. leave them blanked on some tissue/kitchen roll making sure the exterior is clean. Do this for every component (uninstalled/removed). This should help identify if anything is leaking and hopefully it will be a split hose or bad fitting

We could help you save it and save money but f you want to be like that then go ahead. Why do you need help with a redo? Get the same parts and make a new loop.

if you dont want to know what you did wrong, then you'll probably do the same thing as before with a brand new loop.  If you are losing water (not just displacing air) then it's best to get to the bottom of things before trying to piece together a new loop.  All the watercooling parts in your system may be just fine, could be a loose fitting, or maybe that radiator was holding on to more air than you thought.

The first thing that I would do is not disassemble anything, disconnect your PSU from every single component in your PC.  Now top off that reservoir so your pump does not run dry (i'm assuming that this is where your getting your 80%-90% empty) and turn the pump on by a jumper on the psu.  Watch the system closely and inspect every fitting and the block for leakage.  This will be the easiest way to tell if you've got a leak in one of the components

So wild guess problem one....my pump is dead as a door nail.  So everything I could check looked alright the rad is unsettlingly banged up  but was checked and appears to be leak free.  The only leak I noticed was along the o-ring of res....everything I did seems to just piss it off more.

the pump is dead or you are guessing it is dead?

the o-ring at the top of the res? above the liquid line?

what were you doing that was pissing it off?

99.8% sure that the pump is dead (no absolutes from me because I got water to disappear and I still can't explain it)....took everything out of computer, drained everything, rinsed it out, made it a loop again outside of the case plugged in the jumper and turned everything on (yes I am sure Power supply was on the fan spun up) and not a whimper from the pump.

The o- ring on the top of the res, above the liquid line.  Every time I tried to fix it....it just seemed to get worse  I did finally get it seated back as good as it was ....

I did get stuff a tad more plugged in....pump remains dead....

So so far....

Pump --  Replace

Res -- Maybe

that is unfortunate  :(  I'm assuming you tried playing with the power connection and turning the speed dial (on the d5).  did the pump run totally dry at some point?

I have never actually seen that res, I've got no idea how it seals

Considering how little water was in the system if the pump didn't run dry at some point there was some physics doing on that I don't understand.  So my next question is I have heard people (Linus included) balk at dyed cooling liquid.....is the dyed stuff fine?  I do realize the person that made water disappear should probably only consider water but if we are going to be honest part of the reason to water cool is to make a freaking amazing looking system.

i had an issue with one of my pumps not running and it was because the top was too tight from manufacturer I loosened and re torqued and it worked, could be worth a shot

Can we have images and a part list of what you have etc? Are you sure the loop leaked? It can take a good while for air to make its way out of your loop into the res. I re-did my loop over christmas and I filled it to the brim, let it leak test for a few hours and then gamed on it, a week or so later my coolant was very low, I can tell you that it didn't leak, it was just air that was trapped.

Well that is an unbled system which I did.

As I said before...

XSPC Raystorm CPU/APU Waterblock

PrimoChill CTR™ SFF Compression Tube Reservoir System Phase 2 D5 Enabled - 120mm Purple

PrimoFlex Advanced LRT 10ft Tubing - 3/8in. ID X 1/2in. OD - Pearl UV Purple

EK-CoolStream RAD XTX (360)

XSPC D5 Vario Pump

XSPC G1/4 to 3/8 ID 1/2 OD Compression Fitting

my loop is all pulled out of my system in an attempt to test everything and spaced on taking pictures first....my loop before I managed to teleport water out was basically filled to capacity.

So in all the possible redo research I have been doing I came across pastels and loved their look.  Then came across people struggling with Mayhems and color shifting.  Does anyone have any experience with either or both?

If there wasn't an actual leak in your loop you most likely had large air pockets in your rads that never bled out during the initial bleed and slowly started to fill overtime, so that would most likely explain your loss or lowering of fluids.

For the Mayhems stuff it's a bit of a toss up where some users have had issues, it was discussed a fair bit here and many had examples of what can occur:

http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/512877-mayhems-pastel-coolant/

Personally I use the pastel white for about 5-6 months and hadn't had any glaring issues, while I see small particles cling to the fluid line in my res it hasn't precipitated out like some users.
