I am wondering if using soundproofing materials in my case(cover my side panels on the inside and fan intake/exhaust slots which are not in use) will make an actual audible difference. I know companies like Corsair use it on there silent cases but I want to know how big of an actual difference it makes to how loud my pc is. Thanks in advance for any answers :)

Edit: I am using venturi fans so replacing fans wouldn't be need to make my pc silent

My case fans are silent but my gpu (XFX R7 260X) is loud under load even though it has one of my venturi fans blowing cool air directly onto through a vent in my side panel. Is there anything I can do to make my gpu quieter?

yea, im seriously considering custom watercooling for my next rig simply because of loud gpus.. id rather not have to consider maintenance but its just too loud.

I'm thinking of upgrading my gpu soon anyway to a r9 280x, they go quite cheap on ebay but I would have to buy a new psu cause mine doesnt have enough 6/8 pin connectors and I refuse to use adaptors or extenders due to a 8 pin cpu power cable extender melting a few months back... so yh got my eye on a evga 600w psu and a Gigabyte r9 280x on ebay for £134 'barely used'.

about $100 or less for the aio+bracket

but if your GPU is loud then adding foam to your case wont improve anything

you could buy a quieter care like an R5 but that would only be a small improvement

maybe try replacing the thermal paste in your GPU, that would be the cheapest option

Would something like this be good(I know its not an AIO but its only £40)? http://www.arctic.ac/uk_en/accelero-mono-plus.html

Or should I just upgrade my gpu to a r9 280x as the 260x is a bit outdated?

it might be better than a stock AMD cooler, but probably not an aftermarket card

I think I'll just upgrade to a 280x and then if that is too loud I'll try use a AIO on it as using a AIO on a budget card like the 260x seems a bit ott and its hard to find one compatible with it

sounds good

an aftermarket 280x will probably be quieter anyway
