How do I find some of the cheapest motherboards that'll work with a q6600 or q9300?

Theoretically for now.

I want to find pretty much as cheap a motherboard as possible for (either) the q6600 or q9300/9400. How do I go about doing so? Many LGA775 motherboards will support only certain series of CPUs (only C2D & Pentium4/D support as an example).

Is there a letter/number combo I should be looking for (like how newer motherboards work, how z/h97 will work for haswell and haswell refresh but z/h/q87 will only work with haswell CPUs without updates)?

Used Intel Desktop boards on Amazon and EBay are your best bet, if you want to go new then check out NewEgg but those board go for around 60-70 USD

Here are boards I personally recommend and have used before:

I was actually about to buy this one but ended up not needing to get it http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00JDM5FHO/ref=sr_1_19_olp?ie=UTF8&qid=1451786269&sr=8-19&keywords=lga+775+motherboard&condition=used

(For the price it is a great board, great to see your getting more life out of your Q6600 :P)

G41 chipset sounds ideal for you.

Wow, that was quicker than I expected. Thanks for the responses. This'll definitely make me do a lot of research. :)

Haha np, LGA 775 is my favorite Intel platform so when people are using it or need help with it I jump on it like @Jumper118 (no pun intended) and a few others here who are familiar with the 775 and 771 platform :)
