transferring files from an old hard drive to a new one?

Go to solution Solved by techguru,

i have built a new pc and i want to transfer all the files from my old hard drive which is being used on my old pc.

i do not have an external hard drive to copy all the files and then transfer it!

is there any way to do that?

actually i do not want to trasnfer windows but the rest of the media files.

that hard drive is having two partitions one for windows and other one for storage.

can i simply unplug that hard drive from the old pc and plug it to the new one?

i want to be sure as both partitions may merge together and i will lose my files!

setup a ftp on both pcs and transfer them over the network

If they are network connected you can just use WIndows file sharing. You just right click on the folder and share it and then login from the other machine and copy the files across. Its easy enough to setup and requires no extra software.
