A gpu for a prebuilt

Hello everyone, I am here to ask you about what gpu to get, not for me for my friend. He got a pc this Christmas from his grandpa, and of course it isn't that good in the graphics department.

This is the pc he got. Now he wants a better gpu after I explained what he needs to do to get his games better looking (he doesn't know a lot tech stuff)

He doesn't have a good power supply so he needs an upgrade there. He doesn't need a very large one as he doesn't have a big budget.

The gpu. He says he can spend $150 on the gpu. I was thinking he could get a 950. There's one from Zotac for $150 so that's what I was leaning towards.

It's a 180W PSU and it doesn't look like it takes standard ATX PSUs, so you're SOL.

 

Pics from the inside would confirm/refute this though. Most likely, only the memory/hdd is saveable and the rest is trash if you actually want a decent system. I could be wrong though.

You could get a GTX 750 OR 750 ti but I would be surprised if you could run an external GPU of of that 180w PSU.

Get a CX 430 (Its cheap and brand-name), a 750ti, and a Athlon 860k

It's a 180W PSU and it doesn't look like it takes standard ATX PSUs, so you're SOL.

 

Pics from the inside would confirm/refute this though. Most likely, only the memory/hdd is saveable and the rest is trash if you actually want a decent system. I could be wrong though.

That looks like ATX 24 pin, and it has a PCIE-3.0x16 slot.

I'm not interested in the board, but the PSU. If it takes standard ATX PSUs, then you can do:

 

EVGA 500B

GTX 950

 

if not, then you're SOL. I wouldn't even trust that stock PSU with a 750ti.

I know I told him he needed another psu and a gpu. He is ok with that and his budget for the gpu is $150

You probably won't be able to upgrade the PSU inside of it as it's UATX which isn't a standard form factor, your best bet is going to be a GTX 750 or 750ti that doesn't require a 6 pin power connector.

with that crappy power supply............ maybe somebody knows what amd graphics card will crossfire with that particular apu? ( that doesn't need an external power connector )..or your other option is a new power supply and a better card which might excede the $150 budget.

it uses a microATX PSU, which is still pretty easy to find if you know what you're looking for.

I dont think a 950 would be wise as a bottleneck may occur, if it is an A10 you can put it into dual graphics with an R5 and will get superior power compared to the cpu alone. Plus it does not need a psu upgrade.

Oh yeah, the PSU has to go. But if it used a laptop brick it would use a proprietary design instead of a 24-pin, wouldn't it?
