Hey there, Around April time I'm doing a planned upgrade on my pc, I'm switching out my motherboard so that I can switch to an I7 4790k, of which I plan to overclock, I will also be picking up either a second R9 290X or going up to a 390X, now for the I7 4790k, I would like to water cool it, now my question is, which is safer due to leaking? Should I go with a custom loop, or just an AIO? I've heard many stories of AiO's leaking, especially Corsairs, but then there is always the risk with custom watercooling loops as well, for the custom loop I would most likely use soft tubing when I first set it up, and later in the year switch to a PETG piping (just personal preference on aesthetics) If I went with a custom loop, I would also pick up the second 290X and cool them then, but with the AiO I'd end up picking up two Kraken G10's and putting AiO's on them, but honestly my question is, which is the safer to use?

i would go for a custom loop, it will look much nicer and you only have yourself to blame if it leaks :P

do a custom loop! (its a new experience, it performs well, itss fun, it allows you to tinker with your computer, it makes your computer more personal to you and you can do almost what you want with the asthetics of your loop)

AN AiO is safer for leaks because if it leaks it's not your fault its the manufactuer. So AiO cooling is a lot safer than a custom loop. And you're on the right track with what you're doing. Starting with soft tubing is always a good idea for first timers. And then when you have experience with custom loops you can start doing hard line. But then again, it is pretty hard for leaks if you know what you're doing.

AiOs are far easier to use, and have a low likelihood of mistakes.

Would this be your first custom loop? It would be a fun experience, though expensive.

It totally depends on whether you are satisfied with your current performance. If you are, then liquid cooling would be a fun endeavor, for purely aesthetics.

You might have a tough time in that case though. The Core series is not meant for watercooling, though it is certainly doable.

Should I go for a seperate GPU and CPU loop, or double up on radiators (2x 240mm) and do the single loop

well your in control of a custom loop, and a aio only should last for 5 years were a custom loop you have to clean every year, but those parts like the rad, cpu block, etc should last forever.

Yeah I know the price is higher, but I'd be willing to pay for that, and I love the V21 so would like to try it, but if not I'd switch out to the of the Corsair Air series cases

single loop as then you only need 1 pump and its less maintenance and less to go wrong.

just do a single loop, becasue youll lose out on some cooling performance, and it costs more to do two loops.
