It would cut it pretty close, as long as you don't overclock, still i'd get a 600w for peace of mind.

Ghetto Gaming Rig:
Intel Core i5-4690k; MSI Z97- Gaming 5; 8 gig Hyperx Savage; Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming; XFX XTR 650W; 120 gig Samsung 850evo SSD; Fractal Define S; Logitech G502; HP Pavilion 23xw monitor.

600W would allow some wiggle room, for overclocking and upgrading in-future.

Might add this later...

Mixed opinions here. I saw the max TDP of this card is 190? and with a typical build its about 390-400 watts total

Is there is a definitive guide for these?

Place your parts on pcpartpicker.com and it will calculate the power usage in Watts. Pick a power supply that is a least 15-8% more wattage from this guide http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/406160-psu-ranking-and-tiers/

It's good for non-overclocking and basic builds, but if can afford a 980 he probably can afford something better.

Exactly. For a 750 Ti? Sure. For a 980? Fuck no.

A 750Ti would be fine with 350W even.

Yep. Exactly how much I'd dare draw from a 500B continuously

Wattage-wise you're more than fine. Quality wise you are not. If you can afford a 980 you can afford a better PSU like an Antec HCG, Seasonic M12/G-series or EVGA B2.

|PSU Tier List /80 Plus Efficiency| PSU stuff if you need it.

I didnt realise it was that bad... I mean the 980 literally caps out my budget... Am i looking at 80+ gold at a minimum? maybe a nice 750?
