My gripe here is that you went SLI 980 TI's. If I was you I would have gone with one Titan X since that's cheaper than 2 980 Ti's. Other than that it's killer.

One thing you have to factor in too is capacitor aging for the components. Yes it's overkill, he could have easily been contempt with an HX1000i or an AX1200i.

Both the Titan X and 980 Ti aren't perfect cards between the two. The Titan X has 12GB of VRAM and has all the shaders and CUDA cores, but the 980 Ti has some of those shaders and CUDA cores disabled and 6GB of VRAM. Both use the GM200 core. So you have to decide do you want the fully unlocked GM200 core or you would be okay with them disabled. The 980 Ti is like the 780 Ti superseding the Titan in the 700 Series in terms of sales. And yes SLI cards will perform better than one card.

Well almost. I certainly will go with the Titan X since ultimately it will last longer with the 12GB of VRAM backing its ass up. The Titan, Titan Black, and 980 Ti still has some life left in them to squeeze out before you hit that VRAM wall with some games now and in the future. But that shouldn't mean don't but the 980 Ti. It's still a kick ass card like the Titan and the Titan Black.

The GPU core itself isn't powerful enough to use 12GB so you're just here trying to justify the purchase of Titan Xs

Jesus Christ. I wouldn't get that SSD to be honest, an EVO will do equally well. 6TB of HDD storage? Wow. Changed your PSU to a much more suitable one. To be honest, I'm jealous but this will save you some money to go towards... 'something' I guess.
