pc stutters occasionally

Go to solution Solved by don_svetlio,

can you write all instructions in full please I want to print it and follow everything. Can you list step by step? That would be a great help.

Download Memtest86

Create bootable USB drive with it

Run overnight

If errors are found, replace RAM

Run HD Tune Pro extended test

if lots of errors are found replace drive

Reinstall OS

install all the drivers in a proper order

If issue persists, look at a new PSU

does the cpu normally cause this or is this rare for the cpu to be the problem in his case. And if I ran the cpu without the heatsink would that have fucked it all up?

stuttering is usually one of 3 things

bad software

bad HDD/SSD

bad PSU

CPUs CAN cause it but it's rarer

Those are solid but I should clarify

EVGA W1 are terrible

EVGA B1, G1 and NEX are crap

EVGA G2. GS, GQ, B2, P2 are great

Should have specified G2 and GS, as i believe those are Superflower Leadex themselves with an EVGA sticker on them, no?

G2 = SP Leadex Gold

GS = SeaSonic G-series

Ah, thanks. See? I knew someone that specializes in PSU's would be here, lol.

CMOS is an unlikely culprit but yes, reset EVERYTHING. Start by running Memtest overnight and then check drive health via HD Tune Pro

Clearing CMOS is a good idea. Could also unplug PC, hold power button down for a minute or so, and clear any potential memory corruption, then plug back in and have at it. Would be surprised how many times such a simple solution has saved people headaches.

it tests RAM for instability - another cause for similar issues though if you had bad ram, you should be seeing crashes and bsods but it's worth testing
