Hey guys,

Got my new Samsung Pro 950 256GB SSD today (M.2)

It's all working fine the only thing is i can't get more speed the 830MB/s read and 800MB/s write. It should be 220MB/s read and 900MB/s write.

Any one know what I should do to max it out?

Asus maximus VII hero

Corsair vengeance 2x4

Samsung Pro 950 256GB

BTW I used CDMark to test the speeds

Thx in advance

M.2 port on Z97 can't go past ~800.

PCI-E M.2 Adapter  or similar

Never mind I'm stupid, I think possibly...

Checking benchmarks

The M.2 Port on Z97 is not capable of full speeds. That's why.

No, you can buy an adapter for it.

Little bit of research says this should be good.

So yh, I kinda already wanted to upgrade, what chipset/socket or w/e will support this by default without a bracket

Z170 or x99.

Yeah your motherboard is PCIe gen2 then...

OR it's Sata, not PCI-E...

Right, that's also an option... But I wouldn't expect an NVMe drive to work on that?

They do, they're just slow.

So, what should I do buy a random pretty expensive converter from some chinees company or upgrade to z170/x99. I just really want no bottlenecks. I'm looking for a Asus maximus VIII hero, will this handel my SSD?

Yes, any Z170 will.

I would personally just get the adapter.

It depends really, can you flip your old hardware and buy new hardware for less than the adapter?

Because I doubt your CPU is slow...
