E5-2697 v2

Go to solution Solved by StackUnderflow,

Ok. I see. The Noctua NH-L12 is clearly not enough! Havent looked at heat output in that way before:) Well, can you recomend something?

I'd say no... The aforementioned 212 Evo is good, as it's cheap ($25) and has a TDP max of 180W. There's no way in hell that will fit in a 1U rack mount though.

you might get away with using the Coolermaster 212X Hyper

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

TDP is 130W which is quite high...

For reference, a stock 6700K is 95W and a stock E3-1231v3 is 80W.

You can't use the 212 Evo then, it's 15.9cm high. (http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099)

You can try looking into the Noctua NH-U9S or the NH-U12S as those have 140W TDP and are only 12cm tall.
