WD red reliability
I know I'm not answering your questions, but here is my point of view:
I wouldn't go and buy a WD Red just for a backup. IIRC they are quite a bit more expensive than "normal" drives.
I mean even the best drive on the planet will fail at some point. So as long as your data is stored on two different drives it should be safe enough. When one drive fails you can replace it.
So I would just buy the cheapest drive I can find and store the data on two devices.
WD Reds are great, but you can just go ahead and grab a WD Green if it's only a backup drive. Low power usage, low noise, low price
Well seeing how this seems to be the general answer (get what ever is cheap) I might as well get a blue drive then as they are the same price as greens for better performance. Thx
